Description
In Dusty’s story, “New Animal Life”, in AlternateTales-Earth, Ariel and Eric have an alternate happy ending like everyone else. Rather than living in the surface with Eric, King Triton kills Ursula on the spot, leaving her curse on Ariel as a polyp forever, much to his guilt. Still in love with Ariel, Eric wishes to be a polyp as well and promises to King Triton that she will keep her happy with all his heart. He agrees, and turns him into a polyp. As one final act of forgiveness, King Trtion place Ariel, Eric, and the other polyps into a beautiful and luxurious seaweed landaway from any danger and has plenty of food for them to eat. Since then, Ariel and Eric live together peacefully and quietly.
